Check the status of your e-visa for Egypt
You cannot travel to Egypt before your e-Visa has been approved. You’re notified by email each time the status of your Egypt e-Visa changes, so you can easily track your request.
You need to provide a valid email address when filling out the Egypt e-Visa form. You receive status updates directly in this email inbox.
Egypt e-Visa processing is fast. The status of the Egypt e-Visa will usually change to approved in 1 to 3 days. Thanks to the email notifications, you do not need to check the status of your application manually.
Can I check the status of my Egypt online visa?
You can check the status of your Egypt e-Visa application by consulting the email notifications. You receive an email each time there is a change of status.
Egypt e-Visa Status 1: Application received, provide additional information
You receive an email confirmation after your submit your online application. This lets you know that your request has been received correctly.
In the same email, you’re asked to add the required documentation to your application. You may also receive an SMS prompting you to do so.
For convenience, you do not need to provide the passport image and any other supporting documents at the time of applying. You can return to your application and add this information later.
You must, however, upload the requested documents at least 3 days before travelling. If the documents are not uploaded, the Egypt e-Visa will not be processed and the status will remain as incomplete.
Egypt e-Visa Status 2: Application completed
You receive a further email after successfully uploading and submitting the requested documents.
The application is now awaiting review by the Egyptian authorities and the status is pending.
Egypt e-Visa status 3: Approved or denied
Once the Egypt visa has been processed by the government, there are 3 possible status changes:
Approved (most likely)
Most Egypt online visa requests are successful. You are notified by email or SMS when your visa status changes from pending to approved.
You will also receive the approved Egypt e-Visa by email. You should print this out to present to border authorities.
Action required
In some cases, application form corrections or more information could be required. You will be contacted by email to request the information.
You should make the corrections or send the requested documentation as soon as possible. The visa cannot be successfully processed until this is done.
You should check your email inbox regularly after submitting the visa application in case urgent action is required.
Denied
In rare cases, the Egypt e-Visa status may change to denied. Reasons for Egypt e-Visa rejection include failure to meet Egypt’s eVisa requirements or not correcting issues in time (see status 2: Action required).
You will be notified by email if your Egypt visa status changes from pending to denied.

You can use your Egypt visa enrollment number to easily search for any emails related to the visa application in your inbox. The reference number is included in all emails.
How long does it take for the Egypt visa status to change? Toggle faqs
You receive the first email, asking you to provide further information, as soon as you submit the e-Visa form.
The status of an Egypt e-Visa usually changes from pending to approved in 1-3 day, up to 5 in some cases.
If the date of arrival is in more than 80 days time, the application will be processed nearer to the travel date. This information, and the exact date on which the visa will be processed, is provided in the confirmation email.
How to manually check the Egypt Visa status
If you do not receive an email or SMS indicating a status change in your application with 5 days of submitting a form, you can check the status of your Egypt visa using the [Contact Us option].
You should indicate the ‘Reason of Contact’ as _“I want to check the status of my submitted application”. _The request should include the name, passport number and email address you used to apply.
You will immediately receive a response informing you that the request is being processed. You will then receive an update on the status of the Egypt e-Visa within 72 hours.
Before sending an Egypt e-Visa status check request, you should check the ‘spam’ of your email inbox to ensure that communication about the application has not gone to this folder.
Checking the validity of an Egypt visa
You can find important information about the validity of your visa on the approved Egyptian e-Visa. This includes:
- Entry type: Single or Multiple entries
- Valid Until: Visa expiry date is shown here
Single entry and multiple entry visas for Egypt are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. This means you must enter the country within 3 months of the status changing to approved.
If the visa is not used to enter Egypt within 30 days, it becomes invalid and a new application must be submitted.
Single entry visas are valid for one trip of up to 30 days. Multiple entry visas are valid for several trips of up to 30 days per entry.
